Jesus: Rejection at Home (Luke 4:14-30)

Part of the Lent series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
From the beginning of his ministry, Luke shows that Jesus is indeed the Messiah that was expected, but he upset people by not acting as they expected.
He brought true freedom, not through earthly power and politics, religious piety, belligerence, jingoism or militarism. He brought it through God’s gracious loving mercy and forgiveness, and sacrifice, which are the essence of true power and freedom. He calls us to follow.
